The Rubin "Hurricane" Carter Movie

Summary: The Hurricane is about this guy name Rubin Carter that was a middle weight boxing champion in 1966 from Clinton, New Jersey. At the peak of Rubin's career he was wrongly accused of committing a triple murder on June 17,1966.Two eyewitness described the killer as "two Negroes in a white car".There was one surviving victim and they was not able to identify Rubin as the gunmen.Therefore Rubin was convicted from the eyewitness testimony.Rubin was sentenced to 3 life term prison sentences. Rubin was incarcerated for over twenty years before his sentence was over turned by the U.S Supreme Court the judge declare the conviction was based on radical prejudice.
Relation to Psychology: This movie can relate from Chapter 6.The memory has a tendency to allow the mind to forget important details of a crime. It's a factor that forgetting can convict an innocent person of a crime that was not committed.

This is a good example. It is very true though. It is horrible that this happens all the time. I have seen examples like this in other television shows.
It was not uncommon for African Americans to be convicted of crimes they did not commit, especially in the 60's. We studied in Chapter 6 how eyewitness testimonies can be distorted. Many guilty people have been found innocent and others innocent have been found guilty based on eyewitness memory.
